12-30-2014 Date-Filled Cookies

One of my DH's favorite Christmas Cookies growing up
was the "Date-Filled Cookie" that his mom used to make.
I had asked her for the recipe several times over the years
and she said, "Oh, I just use the recipe in the Betty Crocker Cookbook."
So, I would go to MY BCC, and use the recipe there
but it never turned out the same... not even close.
Well, this past weekend, while in Nebraska,
I had a chance to look at my Mother-In-Law's BCC
and it was 60+ years old
and the "Filled Cookie" recipe was quite different
from the one in my BCC
so I snapped a photo of the recipe in HER BCC
and will give this a try!

I'm printing it here in my blog so it will eventually
get printed into my blog book/annual photo album
for future generations
if they are so inclined...
and so I know where to find a copy of this recipe!

Also, DH & I went to see the movie
"Into the Woods" today...
loved it!

12-29-2014 Beam of Light

This morning's beautiful sunrise
had an amazing beam of light
which this photo did not capture very well
as it was soooo bright!

It brought to mind the Bible verse Ps. 119:105...
King James Bible
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

We thank God, our heavenly Father
for the gift of His Son, Jesus Christ!

Last night, Christmas Eve, we opened our gifts
from our dear Sister-In-Law!
(see post from 12-16-2014)
Thank you sooooooo much!!!
Looks like hours of fun in the making!
I've already picked out some projects
from the "Knit Nordic" book,
and will have hours of entertainment
making pom-pom pets with GD#1
during GD#2's nap time!
And DH is always on the lookout for new books/authors!
Your gifts are so thoughtful!
Thank you, Sis!

12-21-2014 Dotty Potty

I knitted these "Dotty Pots"
while driving to Nebraska this weekend
for my M-I-L's funeral.
Husband drove, I knitted.
These won't hold all our tears,
but I know that God has a jar that will...
Ps. 56:8
King James Bible
Thou tellest my wanderings:
put thou my tears into thy bottle:
are they not in thy book?

The mail man...
I mean Santa...

Thank you so much dear Sis-in-Law!!!
We put them under the Christmas tree
that our granddaughter made for us
and plan to open them Christmas Eve!

12-15-2014 Hungry?!?!?

 Each Monday morning,
my granddaughter and I go to the library
to return the 5 board books she borrowed last week
and select 5 new books for the coming week.
Then we stop in the library cafe
for a small cookie and some lemonade or hot chocolate.
While she looks for her books
I peruse the new books and decided
I need to check these out...
later, I thought it was interesting that
they all pertained to FOOD!
Must have been HUNGRY?!?!? hee, hee.

12-14-2014 Christmas Cantata

This morning the choir sang a Christmas Cantata at church...
DH and I sing in the choir...
he sings bass, I sing soprano.
I find Christmas (and Easter) music
to be the most inspired of all music...
so uplifting to my spirit!
