8-20-2016 Skagway to Juneau ~ Whale Watching

Coming into Juneau this morning...

docked at Juneau...

the boat for our morning whale watching excursion
is at the end of the blue ramp...

The boat for our whale watching excursion...
love it!!! It is covered/has a roof
and windows that open up to the inside
so we won't be totally exposed to the pouring rain!
Guaranteed to see whales
or your money back...woo-hoo!!!
(Other excursions were not so lucky...
they had boats open to the elements.)

DH and our guide Kim (from Hawaii)...

 our captain, Fred...

We saw these humpback whales about 50 years from our boat!!!
They were "bubble net feeding"...
something that according to our guide Kim,
less than 100 of the 20,000 humpback whales worldwide
know, or have learned how to do.
Though as I  read about it on the www
it seems they commonly do it.
We got to witness it FOUR times!!!

Another interesting story with a humpback...
