8-22-2016 Hike to Mendenhall Glacier

 After whale watching this morning,
our Hawaiian guide Kim took us on a hike
in the sub-arctic rain forest
to see the Mendenhall Glacier.

unpollenated...have white tips
pollinated...all purple

beautiful lichen and moss everywhere

 Twenty years ago
the edge of the Mendenhall Glacier
was at the waterfall on the right.
DH touching ancient ICE AGE ice...

What a beautiful sight!
