1-30-2017 Showy Walk Cowl

Started this cowl today...
but only casted on half the stitches
so it goes around the neck once, not twice.
Thought I would do it in Pantone's color of the year
so it would be perfect for Springtime walks.

1-27-2017 Old Dishes

Going through boxes in the basement
that were moved here 10 years ago
and haven't been touched since.
Old dishes...
from parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents.
We don't even know what some of them are
or were used for!
Any ideas on the bottom 2 pictures?!?!?!

1-25-2017 Halloween Pie

After making a Christmas pie several days ago,
my 2 year old GD asked to make another one.
Oma: "I don't have the ingredients for a Christmas Pie."
GD looks thru the cupboards...
no more green pudding.
Then she spies a can of pumpkin.
GD: "Oma, I want to make a Halloween Pie."
Oma: "What's in a Halloween Pie?"
GD: "Silly Oma! A Halloween Pie has pumpkin."
So, we made Pumpkin Bars
while sister was at preschool.
I enjoy the one on one time I have with her,
like I used to have with her big sister
several years ago.

1-23-2017 London Fog

While shopping for groceries at SAMS Club today
we came across these sheet sets by London Fog
that my friend Nancy S had told me about
for less than $20/kingsized set!
Since my 20+ year old sheets
are threadbare and torn
I've been looking to replace them
but kept putting it off because I couldn't find a set
that was under $80!
So, when I saw these, I decided to splurge
and get 3 sets (for less than the price of one set elsewhere!
So excited!!!
And yes, they did have sheets in solid colors
without any patterns,
but I just loved the patterns!

1-20-2017 Christmas Pie

Granddaughter: "Oma, I want to make a Christmas Pie."
Oma: "What is a Christmas Pie?"
Granddaughter: "Silly Oma, it's a red and green pie!"
Oma: "Okay, let's see if I have the ingredients..."
flour, salt, butter, water for the crust...check...
instant pistachio pudding for the green filling...check...
crushed peppermint candies on top...check.
We're good to go!

She was very proud of her pie!

Would you like a piece of my Christmas Pie??!?!?!

1-18-2017 Gnomeland Security Hat

While going through boxes in the basement
from our move here 10 years ago,
I found this counted cross stitch picture
of Gnomes
that I had done
many Christmases ago.
Decided to keep it instead of donate it.
Also, a friend found a cute pattern
for a Gnome hat...

1-16-2017 Hunters' Orange

The three parks
where my husband and I take our morning walks
all have signs along the trails saying
"Caution, deer bow hunting in progress."

So, thought it might be prudent to make some
hats in hunters' orange
to wear while we walk!
Would hate to be mistaken for a deer!

1-12-2017 Looming

Our 4 year old GD loves making potholders
on her loom.
Today she has "Show and Tell" at preschool
and wants to take her loom and loops,
so yesterday she made 3 potholders
to give to her teachers.
Her idea.

1-11-2017 Tie Up Loose Ends

Lots and Lots of loose ends to tie up and weave in
on this snowflake dishcloth.
It had an interesting construction
using short rows in the round.
Don't think I'll be making another one of these...
one and done!

1-7-2017 Bitty Babies Watching Car Parade

Doesn't get much better than this, right?!?!?
What an exciting life I lead!
GD moved the cars ahead one space,
then had me take a picture
so I could put all the pictures together
and make a movie.

1-6-2017 BRRRR....

Sure would like to see some temps above ZERO*F!!!
But it's winter in Iowa,

The GDs and I went to the library today
to help with the cabin fever!
