1-25-2014 SaiGon Bistro

Today DH & I decided to try lunch

at the SaiGon Bistro

(a Vietnamese Restaurant in our area)

and were served beautiful and delicious meals.

This 7 foot tall banner

hung from the ceiling

touting the medicinal and restorative properties

of their Pho (Beef & Noodle) Soup.

I was intrigued enough to get up

out of my booth

and go read the entire right hand side

(which was in 'broken' English)

and had to chuckle

at some of the claims...

1-24-2014 Hassenpfeffer Stew, Anyone?

Because it has been a bitterly cold winter here this year

(most days are below 0*F)

our granddaughter decided we needed to feed 

the poor cold bunnies outside,

so everyday she throws out a carrot and slice of apple

and every evening they disappear.

DH took this pix to show our GD...

and said,

hum... come spring... these bunnies

will be eating my garden!

May have to look into some

Hassenpfeffer (German Rabbit) Stew!

(Just kidding!)

a duplicate shows up at her other grandma's house.

now that DH has installed

handrails for the (20 mo. old) Grandkids...

it works perfectly...

When going up and down the stairs

our GD always has her hands full...

she carries carrots and apples 

to feed the outdoor bunnies...

she carries her stuffed animals and toys.

In perspective,

if I were going up and down stairs

that were up to my knees

I'd want something to hold onto also!

1-17-2014 My, How Things Have Changed!

Well, after 50+ years of no dental decay

I finally had a filling and tooth crack

and needed a new dental filling.

My last fillings were at about age12.

My how things have changed!

This was absolutely painless, stress free, easy peasy!

It's a birthday present for a friend

who has a tree frog as a 'pet.'

I used the tree frog pattern here.

DH crafted the cutest 'Fairy Door'

for our house and grandkids!

Now all kinds of fairies can come visit!

They leave fairy dust (glitter) on the floor

when they visit.

 My GD's little fingers

love opening and closing the little 'Fairy Door'

and playing with the paper doll Fairy inside!

Inside the door

is shimmery purple foil paper

adding to the 'magic'!!!

Mother Nature has been snowing all day...

so tonight when it stopped

DH & I went out and shoveled

another 9"...

and the weather man says his estimates

on the coming temperatures

are conservative...

he is actually expecting to see -30*F temps

in the next few days!

Ahh, ya gotta love Iowa!

No New Year's Resolutions for me.

I prefer to contemplate

the reasons

one might need to make a resolution 

instead.
