1-30-2022. Day 13 Hand - and All About Tigers!

My youngest GD is all about tigers right now,

so I loved seeing her face last night at her birthday party

when she unwrapped the tiger painting I painted for her!

Her big sister (lower right) 

spent over 5 hours with Oma, making the birthday girl

a "Tiger" birthday cake from scratch!

And she was so, so, so excited to get 

from her family in Chicago

lots of new earrings

for her newly pierced ears!

Day 7 hand sketching practice...

Also, I finally finished this

free-hand sketch and painting last night...

"Shine Your Light"...

I used some gold metallic paint

in the hair, the crowns, the claws,

but it didn't really show up in the photograph,

but in real life, it shines beautifully!

Instead of a sun, I added a moon,

as well as a blue crescent moon on her forehead

like the priestess of Avalon.

I love this!

As suggested in the FB group,

I used some hand sanitizer to remove

some of the acrylic paint and gesso

that was covering up my texts.

It worked like a charm! Yay!

Now I can see the underlying texts again.

Now I can continue on to the final layer.

1-17-2022. Soul Glow - Layer 3

Layer three added bubble wrap stamping

and some stenciling...

however,

this layer almost completely covers up

the pages of different languages

collaged on layer 1

which I wanted as my focus

because my word for 2022 is 'connection.'

I posted in the Lifebook 2022 group

and it was suggested that

spreading some hand sanitizer over the areas

will remove some of the acrylic paint and gesso.

I'm going to give that a try.

If it doesn't work, or makes things worse,

oh well, I'm not mad about it.

It's just a piece of paper!

Remembering the assault on our democracy one year ago

when violent traitors believed the lies of their cult leader (Trump)

and attacked our nation's capital 

with Trump-inspired and initiated violence and hate.

Is this what has become of the United States

and the peaceful transfer of power??? It saddens me.

It is also a warning of the fragility of our democracy and way of life.

It's frightening to think that

a few domestic terrorists

tried to turn our government into a dictatorship.
