8-31-2020 Swimming

Swimming is good for what ails you!
Washes away the aches, pain, and bad energy.
DH and I had this pool all to ourselves for several days!

8-29-2020 OWL Energy

This morning, I began my 2 mile walk before sunrise.
The street lamps were still on.
After the first several blocks came beautiful sun rays
as the sun began to rise.
Then, to my surprise, something happened that has never happened before
in my 15 years of walking this neighborhood...
2 owls flew over my head.
One flew on out the the bean fields surrounding my neighborhood,
the other stayed with me on the rest of my walk
which was several city blocks.
As I turned corners, it turned corners,
always staying about 2 rooftops ahead of me.
When I finally got home I snapped a pix with my cell phone
and bid the owl adieu.

Owl energy for the day!
See clearly what most others cannot...
pay attention to what normally flies under the radar...
wisdom and deep connection to intuition...
see the true reality beyond the illusion and deceit...
explore the unknown.

8-26-2020 Home Schooling At Oma's House

Arts and crafts
chosen by the 6 year old...

Using math and learning knife skills
with the 8 year old
to make soup for lunch...

Picking tomatoes from the garden,
watering the garden,
then watering each other...

Working puzzles with the 6 year old
while the 8 year old reads Shel Silverstien poems...

8-25-2020 In School Learning

We'll see how long the in-school learning lasts
before a COVID19 case shuts down the school
and things go to 100 percent online.
Fingers crossed...the schools can stay open!

8-24-2020 First Sighting

Altho we have seen quite a variety of birds
on our birdbath in the front yard...
sparrows, gold and purple finches, robins, cardinals,
blue birds, robins, mourning doves, wrens, and others unknown,
today we saw for the first time,
a hawk or falcon
looking for some relief from the 100*F temps!!!
Couldn't really tell from a distance
from inside the house and through a window screen.
But it was exciting none the less!

While I absolutely LOVE each and every one
of Tommy's photos,
this one just said, "Paint me!"
because it tells a story.

8-22-2020 More Zebras

Had so much fun painting a few more zebras!

This was my background music while I was painting.

I found it oddly relaxing!

But more importantly, I had fun painting it!

8-20-2020 Ojo

 A 'negative space' painting...

After painting this negative space painting,
I felt like the leaves were hiding something or someone,
so I painted it again...
this time with eyes!

8-16-2020. Recovery

Folks in Iowa are still trying to recover from
the 'Midwest Hurricane' that came through
on the 10th of August.
Over 1/3 of the crops in Iowa were flattened
and are not un-harvestable.
Power is still out for tens of thousands of residents.
Linesmen from other states have come in
to help get the power grid back up and running.
Please pray for Iowans.
It's just been one hit after another this year!

8-15-2020. Review

I decided to spend some of this 'down time'
from the Covid19 isolation
to review what little Spanish I (used to) know.
I got out my old Rosetta Stone
and was told it no longer works on my new computer...
after having spent this much money,
I was a bit miffed, needless to say!

So, I went to the Rosetta sight
and they were having a 'sale' on their language programs
so I decided to do the lifetime package
with unlimited languages.

Now I'm good to go again...
as long as I have internet access
and streaming capabilities available
(which is not aways the case).

8-14-2020. Pride

My 8 year old GD was so proud of herself
for having made bread and cinnamon rolls from scratch today!
She even ate some of the finished product!

8-13-2020. Take A Load Off

Now that the makeup drawer is decluttered and current,
it's time to start on the closet!
Time to take a load off to the re-sale shops!

8-12-2020. Star Gazing

Last Night
DH and I went out on our back deck,
lay on a blanket
with a pillow tucked under our heads
and a snuggly blanket over each of us,
and we looked up at the sky for half an hour.
The storm 2 days ago washed the air clean of dust
and left us with crystal clear skies
for viewing the spectacularly bright planets
of Jupiter and Saturn and Venus,
many constellations,
and numerous meteorites
from the Perseid Meteor Showers
now in progress (July 27-August 26)...
debris from the Comet Swift-Tuttle...
a dirty snowball that is 17 miles wide
and orbits the sun every 133 years.
It's last shower was in 1992
and Rod and I enjoyed it then also while playing 'night golf.'
Between 160-200 meteorites hit earth's atmosphere every hour
at 133,000 mph and burst into flames about 60 miles overhead.
What an amazing sky we witnessed last night!
Although I do NOT have the camera equipment
to photograph such amazing sights
I thought I'd post some photos I found on the www...
by googling meteor shower images:

8-10-2020. Packing a Punch

The storm coming through today
really packed a punch...
70-112 mph straight line winds
sustained for over half an hour!
Thank goodness we have VERY flexible/bendy trees!!!
Our's survived the storm
while many others on our street did not.

Sirens went off 10 minutes before it's arrival...

Here it comes!

Midwest Hurricane video from Facebook:

The aftermath...
shredded leaves blown onto the siding
like what you see after tornados...

And our two very flexible trees survived!
