2-27-2020 Bald Eagle and Lighthouse

DD came over this morning to paint with me.  :-)

Today we painted a lighthouse

and a bald eagle.

While we painted,

we breakfasted on a freshly baked "King's Cake."

This morning I painted this little mini cherry tree

while waiting for my King's Cake dough to rise...

Stuffed with cream cheese/powderes sugar mix and tart cherries,

twisted, looped into a circle...

baked, cooled, frosted/glazed...

decorated with a bit of Mardi Gras sprinkles!!!

MMMMmmmmm.....

breakfast is ready for Shrove Tuesday!!!

Now all I need is a strong cup of coffee to go with it!

Today we had blue skies

and unseasonably warm temps

so we went to the park for a walk.

I kept looking at the beautiful wispy clouds

and wondering if I could paint them...

A shimmering creek singing with water music...

Some remains from hunting season...

2-20-2020 Baby Blanket Progress Report

Section #3 (yellow) is nearing the end.

However...I noticed a mistake about 3 inches back...

so made a trip to the frog pond

and then re-knitted it.

Finished the yellow section 3...

ready to pick up sts along right edge of section one.

2-19-2020 Birthday Cake for Baby Cat

When I brought the GDs home from school today

they informed me that it was Baby Cat's birthday.

Baby Cat is GD#2's favorite lovey/comfort.

...and the GDs asked 

if they could bake a birthday cake

for Baby Cat.

How does a grandma say 'no' to that?!?!?

So, I pulled out my fave 

2 minute mug cake recipe

that they've been making for years

and made Baby Cat a birthday cake.

"Strawberries are her favorite food, Oma.

Do you have any strawberries?"

"No."

"Papa, could you go to the store

and get Baby Cat some strawberries?"

"Sure."

And Baby Cat's birthday cake 

received its purple frosting and finishing sprinkles

just as mommy arrived to pick up the girls.

we had a 'continental breakfast' provided...
Kuerig coffee, and purchased pastries wrapped in cellophane.

We ended up going to a downtown coffee shop
to get some decent coffee.

After we returned home, 
DD took us out to eat

for DH's birthday today!

Thank you soooooo much. DD!

It was fun trying a new place,

especially one with a Nick connection!

Section 1 finished.

Section 2 underway...

It poured rain all day, so we did some indoor activities...

visited some art museums and galleries...

The "Black Dog" has some AMAZING barbecue!!!!!

And we had some spicy Thai food at the "Sticky Rice" restaurant!
