1-20-2017 Christmas Pie

Granddaughter: "Oma, I want to make a Christmas Pie."

Oma: "What is a Christmas Pie?"

Granddaughter: "Silly Oma, it's a red and green pie!"

Oma: "Okay, let's see if I have the ingredients..."

flour, salt, butter, water for the crust...check...

instant pistachio pudding for the green filling...check...

crushed peppermint candies on top...check.

We're good to go!

 She was very proud of her pie!

While going through boxes in the basement

from our move here 10 years ago,

I found this counted cross stitch picture

of Gnomes

that I had done

many Christmases ago.

Decided to keep it instead of donate it.

Also, a friend found a cute pattern

for a Gnome hat...

the Gnome land Security Hat.

belongs to one of my knitting buddies...

The three parks 

where my husband and I take our morning walks

all have signs along the trails saying

"Caution, deer bow hunting in progress."

So, thought it might be prudent to make some

hats in hunters' orange

to wear while we walk!

Would hate to be mistaken for a deer!

The GB Packers beat the Cowboys tonight

and are headed to Atlanta

for the NFC championship game!!!

Friday the 13th is a GOOD LUCK day

in our family!

Our oldest grandson was born

on a Friday the 13th...

tho not in January!

 Our 4 year old GD loves making potholders

on her loom.

Today she has "Show and Tell" at preschool
and wants to take her loom and loops,

so yesterday she made 3 potholders

to give to her teachers.

Her idea.

Lots and Lots of loose ends to tie up and weave in

on this snowflake dishcloth.

It had an interesting construction

using short rows in the round.

Don't think I'll be making another one of these...

Today's weather was a wild ride

from unseasonably warm temps of 50*F

down to 16*F...

with 40-50mph winds!

Finished my PussyHatProject hat today

to wear on January 21, Inauguration Day

along with a pin that says

This was the first time I've seen a helicopter

in the grocery store parking lot!

It was putting AC units on the church next door.

AND...we might make it out of the below zero temps today!

Thanks to a VERY GENEROUS uncle and aunt,

my GDs were some of the lucky few

who received a "Hatchable" for Christmas.

This 4 year old just spent over an hour

reading books to her "Hatchable" named Lilly.
