9-5-2017 New Zealand ~ Stranded

The 5th and final swatch
from the lace knitting challenge...
stranded knitting from New Zealand.

Not real thrilled with the pattern
having you change colors on the wrong side
which made a row of purl bumps on the right side
at the top...

9-3-2017 Japan Charts and Cables

Day 4 of the Lace Challenge...
I had no problems with the
complicated lace chart for the lace at the bottom,
however, I could not for the life of me
follow the simple written instructions
for the stockinette section
at the top!

8-29-2017 Pruning

Before the hot summer temps
move back into the area this afternoon,
DH & I spent the morning pruning our birch trees
out in the front yard
and then took the trimmings to the
county mulch facility.

What other things do I need to prune from my life
and haul to the dump?

Sights along the Mississippi River on our way home...

Barges parked in the QC Mississippi
because of hurricane Harvey down south.

8-28-2017 Faroese Shawl

A new hat for GD#2...

...and a new Faroese Shawl for me!
This is the first Faroese shawl I've made.
The gusset in the center back is a shawl design
in all shawls made in the Faroese Islands.
These shawls are known for their wonderful fit
over the shoulders...no need for a shawl pin to keep it on.
 washing...
 wet blocking and air drying...
