Starting our weekend getaway 

with a savory crepe from the Crepe Guy food truck!

 Climbed up a few steps to Castle Rock for a beautiful view!

Very few fall colors...either green...or brown.

8-14-2017 Pouring Rain

It is pouring rain today

(I think we got over 6 inches!)

so we stayed indoors to play

at the Putnam Museum.

10-12-2017 Rice Pudding and a Kep

On today's knitting forum

a lady was asking for rice pudding recipes

and many people responded with their recipe.

I tried this one which bakes in the oven for 1+1/2 hours.

It was delish!

Also, started my first Fair Isle Fisherman's KEP...

GD loved her new neon stripes/rainbow Wallaby sweater...

put it on, and wouldn't take it off

the rest of the day!

I told her it is the only one like it

in the whole entire world.

No one else in the whole world has one.

Only her.

found this yarn in my stash

(Cascade Yarns Big Wheel~Los Angeles)

and carried it around all day

hugging it under her neck

and asking/begging me to make her a lovey

(a little blanket with which she sleeps at night

and carries around with her during the day).

How could I not?!?!?!?

GDs helped me buy some new things

10-6-2017 Grandparents' Day

Today was "Grandparents' Day"

at our granddaughter's elementary school.

We had so much fun seeing her classroom,

meeting her teachers

and tagging along during her daily routine.

Doing her math on a tablet...

Reading books during library time...

Playing a math game called "Bump"...

being the door monitor when leaving the classroom

to go to music class...

playing the bongo drum during music class...

 working puzzles with shapes and calling them by name...

Yarn just arrived for my next project...a fisherman's KEP...

These are all great for keeping my mind off all the

construction sawdust, drywall dust, 

and harvest dust from the surrounding bean and corn fields!

I can dust my house 3 times a day

and you'd never be able to tell right now!

So, I'm letting the dust accumulate until the construction has ended

and THEN I'll start the clean-up...

and in the meantime... I knit!

This weekend, DH & I started painting (gray)

the new, primed walls in our basement.

We got everything painted except the edges

along the ceiling.

Flooring guys come in tomorrow!

The road into our housing subdivision

has been torn up for over 2 years...
our street on the left...
the road to town on the right...

...so I was very excited to see some

cement trucks today!

Maybe they are finally making some progress?

Hope they can finish it before winter comes.
