6-10-2022 Chairman Mr. Thompson

During last night's first presentation by the "Capitol Riot on 1-6-2021 Investigation Committee," I sketched Chairman Mr. Thompson and Liz Cheney to try and ease some of my anxiety...How can Republicans call this riot 'a typical tourist day at the Capitol?' I cannot wrap my mind around how the Republicans defend this indefensible act, or how they believe all of Trump's lies, or even if they don't believe the lies, they still kowtow to Trump. What hold does he have over them? I just don't get it! And as Liz Cheney said to her fellow Republicans, "There will come a day when Donald Trump is gone, but your dishonor will remain." As I re-watched the video footage of the attack on the Capitol last night, a year and a half later, it still made my heart race and my anxiety rise, to the point I had to pick up a pencil and some paper and distract myself with sketching in order to endure re-living this stressful nightmare once again. For the first several decades of my life, I was a proud Republican, but now I am sooooo ashamed of them, and angry at them, for not standing up to Trump and his lies and his criminal action against the Constitution of the USA. Whew! Sorry! Just had to vent! And I know, I know that these drawings look nothing like the people they portray...but this sketching just helped me work thru my anxiety.

6-3-2022 Fairy #1

Fairy #1 and her other 4 renditions are done!
Here is the 'original' fairy in the tutorial
that we were supposed to draw while following along:

Here's how my 'original' fairy #1 turned out:

Rendition #2...squared-off 'anime' eyes:

Rendition #3...big eyes, big neck, rounded face:

Rendition #4...curly hair, ears down, bigger lips, hair down,
and pen instead of pencil
because the pencil is not photographing well:

Rendition #5...Posca Pen, smaller ears,
hair down, added color:
I still don't have a black pen that won't smear
when touched by the alcohol based colored markers.
Argh! I have 2 on order that I'm hoping will work better
and not smear!

Now it's on to Fairy #2...

6-2-2022 #50FunFabFairies

Yesterday, June 1st,  I signed up for a free challenge
at www.awesomeartschool.com
called #50FunFabFairies.
Once every other week from now to September
she will post a tutorial video on drawing a fairy
which we are supposed to follow along and draw.
Then, over the next 2 weeks
(until the next video tutorial comes out with the next fairy)
we are supposed to draw 4 more renditions of this fairy
but change one (or more) thing(s).
So, here is my sketch of week one's fairy:

And here is the reference photo from the video tutorial...
I didn't have brown paper or the markers she used
so I just used printer paper and a pencil...
she is big on just using what you have:

6-1-2022 Tears for the Lost Children

I've been working on this free-hand sketch
with pencil, watercolor paint, watercolor pencils,
varnish, gold paint and gold foil...
inspired by "Freya's Tears" by artist Anne Marie Zilberman...
because I've been crying for all the children
lost in Putin's war against innocent Ukrainians,
and mass shootings here in the USA,
in movie theaters
in outdoor concerts
in churches
in supermarkets
in schools...
all the innocent people murdered.
I cry for them,
and for their murderers, that they would do such a thing.
