1-13-2024 Another Snow Day...

Another 'snow day' today...

the grands here and in Chicago

had off school and made snowmen. 

The clouds dumped another 12 inches of snow on us yesterday

on top of the 9+ inches we got 3 days ago.

And now the sub-zero temps are arriving.

Ya gotta love winter in Iowa!

More time to stay inside and create art!

1-12-2024 Moon Oracle continued...Snow Day...

Well, this is interesting. I can't get paint to stick to this page's surface!

So, I'm having to resort to watercolor pencils, which I absolute hate!

This may be the very first 'painting' I don't finish.

Maybe I'll go back to it later with some gouache.

And we have a snow day again today...

second one in a week.

When they predict 9-12 inches,

we go out every 4 inches and shovel...

With these major winter storms coming thru...

I'm on deck to watch the grandkids

who have the day off from school

while mom goes to work

and dad flies to Vegas to play soccer.

Good thing I finished another 1898 hat last night!

I may wear it today!

I left it open at the top for my ponytail.

Also wanted to show this beautiful doll

I received from my D-I-L's mom...

I love her and have her in my kitchen

so I can see her every day

and think of her/Carmela.

This was an interesting tutorial.

It took forever.

I didn't have watercolor paper

so I used a piece of regular printer paper

which is NOT designed to hand wet medium!

Because it was a watercolor tutorial

(instead of acrylic paints)

one had to paint around all the bits and pieces

and it was quite tedious and time-consuming.

I couldn't wait to get it done!

And while I could still add several more layers

to this painting,

I'm calling her done

and moving on to the next!
