Happy Mother's Day to Me!

DH and I went to the Beaux Arts Fair downtown yesterday

and I got myself a fun wind chime made of forks and spoons

for the front porch!

This is the wind chime I got...

it sounds amazing!

Also, my DD always invites me to join her

for her Mother's Day photos...

bless her heart!

5-11-2024 Northern Lights...

Tonight and tomorrow night

the solar winds from 5 days ago

will gift us with some beautiful northern lights.

We are a bit south here in Iowa

but are still able to see them faintly

from our back deck at 3 a.m.!

Others who live farther north

had quite a vibrant show!

What a spectacular summer this has been

for us sky-gazers!

I worked this using acrylics 

in my 7x10" watercolor paper journal...

studying values and how to mix them...

and used an extra large brush

as instructed

to keep the painting very loose.

 Today was a day of storms and rainbows...

Today DH and I drove to the composting center

and got a pickup load full of fresh mulch

to add to the yard.

The railroad tracks run in front of the composting center

and I always love looking at the 'graffiti' art on the train cars.
