3-13-2018 Wildlife
This Iguana joined us for lunch one day...
Coatimundi eating fruit
from the trees outside our building.
A feral cat at dinner...
Black-bellied Whistling Ducks
with pink bills, legs and feet...
...and best of all...Howling Monkeys!
Wait for it...
that dog barking sound
is the beginning of the monkey howl.
(Turn up the volume on your speakers!)
But my favorite was this beautiful blue butterfly!

3-12-2018 Tootsies in the Pacific
Because we were told that
we would sunburn to a crisp in 10 minutes
(due to the fact that this resort is on the equator)
DD and I would walk on these stamped concrete paths
to the buffet breakfast at 6 a.m.
then go for a quick 10 minute walk along the beach
of the Pacific Ocean,
and spend most of the rest of the day indoors.

3-11-2018 Glassed Balcony
The next morning...
we were able to enjoy our glassed in, air conditioned,
fan on the ceiling, balcony/patio
and the beautiful views of the golf course
across from us
and all the water birds in the creek.
As we walked around the rest of the resort
we noticed that we were the ONLY ones
with an enclosed patio.
All the rest were open to the heat, mosquitos and elements
so I'm not sure how we lucked out!
God was being good to me!

3-9-2018 Arrival in Costa Rica
We left my house at 9:30 a.m.
and arrived in Liberia at 10:00 p.m.
Then we had an hour and a half drive
thru mountains
in the pitch black night
to get to our resort on the Pacific Ocean.
We had a lengthy delay and LONG line of traffic
at one point
where road crews were doing some work.
They work on the roads during the night
because it is too hot to work during the day.
(They are right on the equator.)
While we were sitting and waiting, I asked the shuttle driver
about the large fires we saw as we were landing.
He said those are the sugar cane fields on fire.
They start a fire in the center of the field around 5-6 p.m.
to push out to the edge all the venomous snakes and rodents
and to burn off the razor sharp leaves of the sugar cane
so they don't cut the workers.
Then, about midnight, after the fires have burned down,
the workers,
(Nicaraguans that the Costa Ricans hire for all the hard work...)
go into the sugar cane fields
and cut the cane one by one with machetes.
Finally, we arrived at our destination,
checked in at the open air lobby,
and opened the door to our room at
2 minutes after midnight (12:02 a.m.) the next day (3-8-2018)!

3-8-2018 Headed To Costa Rica!
Yesterday,
Dear Daughter and I headed to Costa Rica
for a vacation she earned
by being the 3rd highest seller in
one of the companies for which she works,
Her husband was busy with school
and unable to go with her
so she invited me!
