This morning DH and I went to Ross'
"Home of the Magic Mountain"
for breakfast.
This restaurant sits under the I-74 bridge
and is a QC/local favorite,
but will soon have to move or close
when repairs to the I-74 bridge begin...
so we thought we better try it once before it disappears!

6-18-2010 Darkness Descends

This afternoon darkness descended over the QC
as a huge wall cloud blew through
with 60-80 mph straight line winds
leaving downed trees
and thousands of people without power.

Tonight DH & I went to see an IMAX movie
about Spelunking (caving)
and came across this...
I thought it was interesting enough to pull out my camera
and take a snapshot!

6-13-2010 Undo Bind Off

After knitting for 62 hours on my first pair of socks
I finally bound off the final rows!!!
Only to find out it is too tight
and now I can't even get it on my foot! ~ARGH!!!
So, I tried a second/different bind off on the second sock...
and it is still too tight! ~ ARGH!!!
Now I have to figure out how to undo both bind off rows
and see if I can figure out/learn a stretchy bind off
for toe up socks. Any suggestions from you knitters out there?
I'm going to suggest to my knitting teacher
that she include a "stretchy bind off" lesson
in her sock class, as I'm sure I'm not the first
sock knitting student who's had this problem...

I love the QC!!!
Almost every weekend, from spring through fall,
there is a race event of some sort.
Last weekend it was a criterium...
today it is the HyVee Youth Triathlon...
then there is the Run With Carl 5K...
the BIX 7...
the Susan B Komen 5K Race for the Cure...
the Taming of the Slough...
and on and on and on....

Sad to say, but this is something you'd never see
in a million years
in Sedalia, MO, where we lived for the past 30 years!!! :-(
