It was a bit of a hike

(45 minutes uphill)

to see the Siewers Spring Falls, 

but the views along the way were lovely!

Spring flowers bloomed everywhere on the forest floor...

Siewers Spring Falls was 

yet another spring bursting forth from a mountain side...

this one cascading about 150 feet down the mountain

before falling into the river below...

4-23-2017 Waterfalls Weekend ~ Beulah Springs

DH and I have a 4 day weekend

with no babysitting duties

so we decided to explore Iowa waterfalls.

This is the first one we visited...

Oldest GD turns 5 years old today!

Little sis gets a present too!

 GD added her 5 year old hand print to the birthday board.

4-21-2017 Critter and Fossil Park

 GDs explored a newly opened park today

and decided to name it "Critter and Fossil Park"

because of the critters and fossils

imprinted on the concrete climbing walls.

 After a picnic lunch at the park,

GDs came home and made some cupcakes 

for tomorrow's birthday (J's 5th),

and some rhubarb crisp for PaPa.

Finished and drying from wet-blocking.

Took the GDs to the garden center today

to pick our some flowers for their kitty pots

and herbs for my vegetable garden.

Easter Morning

It's dark and cloudy and raining.

All of a sudden

during the sermon

the sun breaks through the clouds

and a triangle of light shines on the Easter Banner.

A coincidence?

is now experiencing her resurrection

as she died today

and is now with the Lord in Paradise.
