6-10-2018 Fuzzy Bulbasaur Ivysaru Venusaur

GD#1 wants Oma to make her a 'fuzzy' Bulbasaur Pokemon

because she found some eyelash yarn in my yarn stash.

She also want it to have all 3 evolutions:

Bulbasaur, Ivysaur (with ivy leaves on vines)

and Venusaur (with the pink flower/Venus flytrap on its bulb).

Whew! That's a tall order.

I'm close to finishing...

still need to add eyebrows, the mouth, the green spots

on the face and legs,

then it's done!

because Bulbasaur 1.0 didn't look like Bulbasaur...

Bulbasaur 3.0 is now in the works.

GD decided that she wants all 3 evolutions

(Bulbasaur, Ivysaur, and Venusaur)

plus she wants it to be fuzzy

because she found some eyelash yarn in my stash!

This should be interesting...

6-3-2018 Something Is Askew!

Followed this Baby Charmander pattern stitch for stitch

but it turned out nothing like the pictures in the pattern.

The legs won't fit on the tiny 'body' ball and the head is huge.

I will have to put the arms on the small body ball

and the legs on the tail part instead.

Hmmm... wonder if I could re-arrange things?

The GDs are into several of the Pokemon characters lately,

especially Bulbasaur.

I've made 2 Bulbasaurs and have a 3rd in the making.

Squirtle and Eevee are next.

6-2-2018 Iowa City Arts Fair

This is what the sky looked like as we drove to Iowa City

for their annual spring arts fair.

But, things cleared up and it was a lovely day!

DH enjoys checking out the woodworking booths.  :-)

Gets ideas for his next projects.

These is always a street full of food trucks,

and this year they also had a street full of booths

just for kids...fun things to do...

bubbles, face-painting, etc.

Addition by Subtraction

finished the I-cord this morning...

(it took 3 days!)

dropped the stitches for the 3 columns...

(it took 3 hours)

wove the I-cord into the edge...

washed the shawl...

wet-blocked and dried the shawl...

then decided to wash/block a blue scarf I'd finished recently...

and my Costa Rica shawl too,

since I was in the wash/block mood...

5-30-2018 Hurricane Alberto

When I went to kindergarten 60 years ago

we learned our ABCs and numbers.

Now-a-days, they are expected to already know them

(before kindergarten)

and they work on reading and writing!

5-28-2018 Memorial Day

Thank you to all those in the military

for their service to our country

and for all their sacrifices!

Harvested 2 large bowls of homegrown organic lettuce today!

 Had the tall cloud "looming" over the house today.
