8-16-2018 Beauty Crush

During my morning walk in the woods today...
I felt the deep roots and grounding of the trees
and the strength they give each other as a group
in their connectedness.
Standing alone in a field,
the wind would blow one over.
But standing together in connection
they are strong.
This is nature showing me a truth.
There is strength in connection and group.
I love my group!

I felt beauty crushing in on me
from all fronts.

Musically, the creek was babbling its water music
and the trees were singing with birds
and crickets and cicada and tree frogs...

Flora...

You can click on the picture to enlarge it..,
see the bee?

Fauna...
my spirit animal greeted and walked toward me.

( See my post from 7-24-2018 )

Ahh, nature never disappoints.
Just what I needed this morning!

8-15-2018 Baby Sweater

Finished knitting this baby sweater
for the next door neighbor's little girl.
She has reddish hair
so I thought she'd look great in green!

I couldn't find any buttons I liked
so I just made some...
I hope it fits her!

8-11-2018 Chimneys and Flues

The chimneys holes are in...

...and the flues are carved between the holes...

Then DH clamps the two halves together
to see if they make music when he blows.
It it all sounds good, he'll take it back apart
sand and finish the inside of the flute,
then drill the note holes and tune them.
Can't wait to hear its voice!
A new Native American Style Flute in the making.

Love having tea parties with the GDs...
I'll miss the days when they no longer
want to have a tea party with Oma.

And so glad the plumber is here to replace the disposal

8-6-2018 Crusty Bread

so today we made some.
And she ate it!

8-4-2018 Oh Joy!

We came home from the yarn convention
to find that our
12 year old/original with the house
garbage disposal is leaking like a sieve through the bottom!
Oh joy!
My DH has worked on several disposals during our lifetime
and decided that this time he would hire a plumber.
Good call.

7-30-2018 Pool Time

The backyard neighbors just put in an above ground pool.
It was fun to watch the workers assemble it.

GD having some summer fun on the slip 'n slide.

This weekend was the BIX 7 foot race in downtown.
DH and I went down to the street fest afterwards
to grab some 'street vendor food' for lunch.

7-24-2018 A Doe and Her Fawns

A Doe and her 2 fawns
joined me on my morning walk.
:-)
She walked out of the grass nearby
with her two fawns,
looked at me,
and then calmly walked ahead of me along the trail.
Very unusual behavior for a deer,
much less a mama deer with 2 babies!
Normal behavior...
they would be high-tailing it out of there!

Yesterday, I happened to take a quiz online
to find out what my 'spirit animal' is: a deer!
It said...
  • Look in nature and observe around you. Pay attention to animals and their behavior.
  • Be attentive when an animal appears in your life in a way that is noticeable, when it has an unusual behavior; it may be a spirit animal trying to grab your attention
  • Watch for repetitive encounters with the animal either in its physical or symbolic form (as object or image)

And now, all of a sudden,
a doe and her 2 fawns join me for a walk?!?!?!
A coincidence?

And the stillness in the air
made the reflection on the pond
like a mirror!
