9-7-2018 Hearing Screening

Augustana College
was offering free hearing screening
so we went and had our first audio screening today.

They just happened to have a photographer there
to shoot new photos for their promotional brochure.
Wish I had know about that ahead of time!
I'd have worn something different,
put on some make up
and done my hair.
Awkward!

9-6-2018 A New MMCAL

Clue #1:

Clue #2:

Clue #3:

Still not sure what it is supposed to be...
a key chain?
a luggage tag?
a party favor?
I do lie the granny circle in clue one...
may make some more of these and
attach them to our luggage
for upcoming trips
to make them easier to spot
as they go around the luggage carousel.

9-5-2018 Mission Impossible

DH and I went to see the new "Mission Impossible" movie today.
It was an adrenaline rush from start to finish.
I'm sure that audiences today loved it
but I found it to be
unbelievable
and no longer my cup of tea.

9-3-2018 Ayer's Landing ~ Fox River 6 Mile Canoe Trip

Setting Up Camp (6-1-2018)

Skipping Rocks

Michael starting the campfire (6-1-2018 p.m.)
with an acetylene torch
almost feels like cheating!

(6-2-2018 a.m.) Getting ready to start breakfast.

Here's a little fish we can fry for breakfast!

Bacon, eggs, hash browns and corned beef hash for breakfast.

(6-2-2018/10 a.m.) Starting our float trip
before we all tied up together on the river
for the Acevedo 7 canoe floatilla.

Floating down the Fox River.

 Stretching our legs
and taking a lunch break.

Water snake.

Crawfish.

Back on the river.

Loved the shark fin on this dog's life jacket! Ha, Ha.

Limestone bluffs were interesting to look at...
moss...lichen...swallow nests...

Beautiful views from the river!

We had 3 bald eagle sightings.

Liz was brave to bring her brand new Nikon camera
(a birthday gift) on the float trip.
It survived.

"Daddy, I want to help row the boats."

Creepy sign.

6 miles and 4 hours later...all finished.

Playing bags after dinner.

Relaxing by the campfire
after a long hot day.
Ready for some S'mores!
(6-2-2018 p.m.)

NOT A DROP OF RAIN THE ENTIRE FLOAT TRIP!
YAY!

6-3-2018...drove home to Iowa.

8-31-2018 Think I'll Keep My Cat Indoors

I usually let my cat out each morning
to eat some grass.
But, I think I'll keep her indoors this morning
as I spotted this bird of prey on my next door neighbor's deck.
It's looking for some breakfast
and it's a bit bigger than my cat!
I think it's feeding on the bunnies in my neighbor's yard.
