Five 2-gallon bags of swiss chard

have been steamed down

for the freezer.

Mmmm...

Now we can enjoy it all winter long.

I'm not sure how I feel about getting a new roof

on Friday the 13th!?!?!?

(Altho I got an amazingly wonderful grandson on a Friday the 13th!

...so maybe it's a GOOD sign!)

On the other hand...

it IS the Harvest Moon in Pisces today/tonight...

which is a GOOD thing!

I try to do a Brioche knitting project once a year

to keep up the skills.

Today we had our dish moved to the ground

(which is where we wanted it originally!)

in prep for getting a new roof.

9-8-2019 New Router and Modem

Our internet service is awful.

We pay for high speed internet

and what we get...

IF we can connect...

is an 'unstable' connection.

Trying to watch a video is a test of patience.

Watch a minute...buffer from 20 min-2.5 hours

in order to watch the next one minute.

I takes me 4-5 hours to watch a 7 minute video.

Sigh.

A Mediacom technician came out today

and replaced the modem/router.

Then, DH had them turn off all of their router switches

and hooked up our own, new router.

Now things are moving along much faster!

Yay~ DH is my hero!

9-7-2019 Ring Lights & Beaux Arts Fair

...for upcoming online video work...

Now all I need is a new internet provider!

Mediacom is awful.

The girls and Papa and I

took advantage of this lovely morning

to walk through the Beaux Arts Fair downtown.

As they girls would enter each and every artist's booth

they would exclaim LOUDLY...

"Ooooo....this is sooooooo  awesome!

The is sooooo cool.

This is sooooo creative!"

And each and every artist got the biggest smile on their face.

One even said, "That's very high praise, coming from a 7 year old!"

The critters coming out of the eggs in this booth

was their favorite booth last year.

This year, their favorite was hummingbird feeders

made from recycled items like horseshoes, saws, rolling pins, etc.

which, of course, I did not photograph. Sigh.

Their favorite kid's activity was again...the spin art!

9-6-2019 Computer Shopping and Mediacom Sucks!

Today DH and I began computer shopping.

My four year old Mac is no longer functioning as I need it to,

and my DH, who is no dummy

and has taken several IT classes

has decided it is one of two things...

the ethernet is fried,

or Mediacom sucks...

or both.

We pay for download speeds fo 60

but we get 0-12...IF we are lucky enough

to connect to the internet at all.

Because I am taking some online classes

with instructors and other students

that involve 

watching videos online,

as well as Skype and Zoom calls ,

both of which freeze/buffer...

I need a more reliable connection!

Last night I tried watching a 12 minute video.

It would play for about a minute, then buffer for 20+ minutes

to load the next minute.

Unacceptable.

So, we have a Mediacom tech coming on Sunday

to replace the modem/router and check the cables.

If that doesn't help,

the next step is to try a different computer. 

Mediacom is the only option where we live right now. Ugh.

I hear that Metro-net is coming to the QC

and I'm hoping they get to our neck of the woods soon!

I will leave Mediacom in a heartbeat!!!

9-5-2019 Denied

The roofer and insurance adjuster

are trying to figure out what to do.

Our roof has DEFINITE hail damage and needs replacement.

However...

the metal components (box vents) DON'T have hail damage

(because they were leaking so bad that we had them replaced recently).

Because the (new) metal components don't show hail damage,

and we didn't take photos of the old box vents,

the insurance guy is denying our claim.

If the roof AND metal components BOTH had hail damage,

he would have approved it.

So, now we have to pay for a new roof out of pocket

after paying thousands of dollars in home owner's insurance premiums

with no previous claims.

I'm a bit ticked off.

9-4-2019 Another Drawer Decluttered

Yay me!!!

I didn''t have much time today,

but at least got one bathroom drawer decluttered.

Now to go back through the eyeliner pencils I saved

and bring it down to one of each color.
