7-13-2018 Thank you DD & Happy Birthday GS#1

Upon the return home
I found these two gifts from my dear daughter
on the kitchen countertop...
a little log cabin charm for my charm bracelet
and some discontinued purple nail polish I've been wanting.
Thank you so much!
And thank YOU for watching the house and kitty
while we were away!
And, thank you for joining us on the first leg
of vacation at the log cabins
for my 65th birthday!!!

7-12-2018 Heading Home

Heading back home from Kentucky to Iowa
we had cloud cover almost the entire way
and never got rained upon. Whew!

I must say, we saw the most beautiful clouds
during this vacation...
every day!

7-11-2018 Corsair Distillery

After a delicious lunch at Wild Eggs...

and a quick trip to the dairy barn for an ice cream cone...

...we returned to downtown Bowling Green KY
for a tour of the Corsair Distillery
and loved their advertursome mixology!

10 pounds of vanilla beans in that bag
to flavor the liquor...

Here's were they hand mix the herbs and spices...

...and do their hand bottling and labeling
and boxing and shipping of all their small batches.

Loved this town's flat themed water tower!

More pretty clouds as we drove back to the BnB.
for our final night of vacation.

7-10-2018 Cedar Sink Trail

We hiked the Cedar Sink Trail
in Mammoth Cave National Park
in the rain.

While DH went down to the bottom of the steps
to see the sink hole/karst/cave ceiling collapse...

I stayed up top and photographed moss and stuff...

7-9-2018 Mammoth Cave

DH took one of the many tours available
for one section of the cave
(there are over 400 miles in this cave!)

I stayed above ground and knitted and people watched.
Caves are not my thing.

7-8-2018 Serenity Hill BnB

Inspired by our wonderful stays
at the Chestnut Street Inn in Sheffield IL,
DH decided to try out another BnB...
 during our Kentucky vacation...
and it was amazing!!!

This (and many others!) cute gnome greets you
as you come up the driveway.

We spent most of our time here
on the spacious front porch
watching the hummingbirds.

Common areas where we met some of the other guests...

early morning coffee bar...

Our room...

had a king sized bed... seating area...

and large en suite...

This BnB was just minutes from Mammoth Cave
and lots of hiking trails.  :-)
