4-22-2015 Window Replacements

Remember the 2 double-paned windows
that had broken seals and things growing inside?
(See 4-7-2015 post.)
Well, the replacements finally arrived today
and they were FREE (to us)!!!
The company actually honored their
lifetime warranty!
Awesome!

4-20-2015 Missing Library Book

More tulips...

- - - - - - - - -
Spent today tearing apart the car
looking for a lost library book...
GD was reading it in her infant-seat
while we were driving home from the library
and by the time we got home
it was no where to be found!
(And no, she did not throw it out the window!)
After removing the infant-seats
and taking them apart
we decided to look under the actual car seats
thinking that maybe the book had slipped down
between/under the car seats
but no book was found.
We decided to spring clean the car
while we had it torn apart.

Guess we are buying a library book!

4-18-2015 Tulip Time

Since the tulips by my front door (above)
are blooming THIS weekend,
DH & I decided to make the 3 hour drive (one way)
to Pella Iowa
to see if their tulips were in bloom
even though their Tulip Time Festival
is not scheduled until May 1st.

We were in luck...
they were in full bloom!!!
Woo-hoo!!!

So beautiful...

4-13-2015 Sky Dog

While playing outdoors with the GDs
I happened to look up and see
this sky dog / mini rainbow
and pointed it out to the GDs
who then got so excited they started
hopping all over the deck
and yelling at the top of their lungs
"Rainbow! Rainbow!"

4-12-2015 Chicago, Here We Come!

Today I got some Oma time
with my grandsons. :*)

Love my family sooooooo much!!!
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

We started out today with blue skies,
then had white skies the rest of the day
while driving to and from my son's house,
so, today's color in my sky scarf was blue.
(See post on 4-8-2015)
Here is a sneak peak at how the scarf looks so far...

4-8-2015 Sky Scarf

I am wanting to knit a scarf to wear with my
and
I have always wanted to knit a
so I decided to use the purple yarn I used for my hat
and add some jewel toned yarns
and start a Sky Scarf...
which will be a year in the making.
Each day, you knit one row
after looking at the sky that day.
Red is for angry, stormy, skies with
dark gray clouds/rain/hail/tornados/sirens.
Purple is for clear blue skies.
Green is for partly cloudy/partly sunny skies
that have white cotton ball clouds.
Blue is for skies completely filled with white clouds
(think high cirrus and stratus clouds).

4-7-2015 Out, damned spot! Out, I say!

See these big spots?
I've been doing a bit of Spring cleaning window washing
and discovered two double paned windows
with broken seals and fog and spot
BETWEEN the double paned windows.
ARGH! I hate it when that happens.
Like Lady Macbeth,
I want the spots gone
but there is no way to wash them away!
So, DH & I drove to IL
to order some new IGUs
(Insulated Glass Units)
or double paned windows
to replace these two.

4-3-2015 What Would You Do?

Went to the vet
to buy some cat food for my cat
and saw this woman with an opossum
that had been hit by a car and badly injured...
she wanted to have it put down
to end its suffering.
poor thing...
She was told that the vets there do not handle opossums
as they carry rabies...
which they did not want to risk passing on
to themselves or all their dog and cat clients.

Had I come across this little guy,
I too would have wanted to end its suffering
but I probably would have whacked it over the head
with a shovel to get the job done.
Does that make me a bad person?

4-2-2015 Surprise Capelet

This past weekend while DH drove us to a knife show
I knitted this
for a friend (Diane) in Tuesday morning Bible Class
who had been admiring all the knitted
scarves, mittens, hats and cowls
I've made and been wearing to class this winter...
said it inspired her to start crocheting again after many years.
So, she purchased this LionBrand Homespun yarn
and decided to crochet a scarf for her daughter.
Finding it IMPOSSIBLE to crochet with this yarn
she brought it to class
and handed it to me with a look of disgust on her face
and said, "Here, you take this! I hate this yarn!"
So, I decided to knit her this Capelet from her yarn
and surprise her with it next week.
Still need to weave in the ends and add a button.
Hope she likes it!
